Kent Wenzel comes by his passion and craft for recipes, smoked handcrafted meats and cheeses honestly. Starting back in 1972 after his family relocated to Hamilton, TX from Dallas… At an early age you could find him working alongside his father, the “Dutchman” in the family’s business.

At that time… The primary focus was on making sausages and meats with their time-honored family recipes. While Kent tried other vocations along his way as he got older…. his passion for the family business couldn’t be ignored.

After working with the “Dutchman” for years… In 2003 Kent set out on his own to expand on what he had learned from his father and opened the now Texas landmark, Wenzel Lonestar Meat Co.

Wenzel not only honors and continues the family tradition of one-of-a-kind meats, sausages, and cheeses… over time it has become a multifaceted one stop market and meat processing business. Hunters come from other states to have their wild game processed and turned into their Wenzel’s favorites.

The Deli and market offer up daily lunch specials like the famous “Bite My Butt” pork butt sandwich. They also have ready to cook family meals, a selection of high-quality deli meats and cheeses… And One-of-a-kind sauces and seasonings just to name a few. The kitchen is well known for its… Cookies, Brownies, and other incredible baked goods.
